For me it is installed K-Lite Codec Pack the last version. When I press preview (at all without selecting a file) or start, VE at once is closed

When you press Preview or Start without input file selection it should warn about the input not being selected. If it doesn't do even that, this is really weird.
What is your Windows version?
Is it 32 or 64 bit?

Really weird. Does it happen in both modes - Simple and Advanced? If input file is selected, same thing?
From thousands of users with same configuration you're the first who experienced this problem. We'll perfrorm more testing..

The problem has dared, when I have completely deleted VE and have installed anew. Thanks that have spent for me time

This happened to me before when i had multiple codec packs installed at the same time, i uninstalled all and chose Community Codec Pack and i works after.
