Why VD Smart resize (any version) does'nt work in VE?
VE crashes immediatly when choosing Smart resize.

Hmm.. Yes, I've just  reproduced it. Thanks for reporting!
It happens when VE calls configuration dialog of the plugin.
VE tries to emulate VirtualDub for VD filters, but it doesn't emulate it fully, so sometimes filters require some functionality which is missing in VE or make assumptions about its internals which are wrong. That's why some filters do not work in VE.
This one was mistakenly marked as working, we'll mark it as noncompliant for now.

Is there a list of compliant VD filters posted somewhere? VE crashed on me, most likely because I had loaded the VE plugins directory with a whole bunch of Virtual Dub filters I had downloaded from different sites on the web. I even put in a trial demo version of the NeatVideo filter for VirtualDub into the VE plugins directory, hoping I could test out this filter in VE. I guess I was pretending that VE was an enhanced and speedier version of the original VirtualDub program. I have a quadcore machine.

So are all the filters in your free VD filters auto-install pack VE compliant? Or are they only for VirtualDub 1.8.8., which is what I am using on Vista with no problems?

A list would be useful, because then I can just delete the non-compliant VE filters and avoid crashed in the future.

Finally, VE ain't VirtualDub on steriods, is it? Wish it were, with two display windows...

Yes, if you look at the detailed list here:

for each filter it says whether it works in VE or not.

This is a list of filters that do work in VE.

All filters in the FilterPack are VE-compliant.

The filters lists are a bit outdated (by a few months), we'll update them this week.

Thanks, deemon. The links show those filters that are VE compliant. Saves a lot of time.

Of course, no need to load filter you don't need. It's like loading fonts you never use.
Only load filter you need for specific project or task. Saves computing resources, even
if you have CUDA-enabled nvidia card, which I have.

No need to have "compliant Vdub filters"

Just use the frameserver of vdub and rename the .vdr extension to .vdr.avs then open it with VideoEnhancer. It works for me.

You must have avisynth installed indeed
