Can't Use MSUColorEnhancement Filter With VE

Just tried to use some filters to clean up a video, but when I try to start the processing I get the message "Can't load filter c:\program files\video enhancer\plugins\MSUColorEnhancedment.vdf. Press OK to remember it and don't load it next time."
I checked the plugins folder and the .vdf file is there. However, when I click on "VDF Filter", MSU Color Enhancement.vdf is not shown. Other filters show up in the filters sequence window OK. All of the .dll files are in the Video Enhancer folder, not in the plugins folder.
In one of the posts I read about a similar problem, someone mentioned about needing Visual C++ Runtime. Not sure whether that applies in my situation or not but there is more than one version of the Visual C++ Runtime software available on the Microsoft web site. Apparently it depends on which version of C++ the app in question was written with.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Yes, this filter requires runtime and MFC DLLs from Visual C++ 7.1 (2003) to run (authors didn't bother that users may not have them).
Here are the missing files:
http://stuff.infognition.com/msvcr71.zip
unpack the archive and place the DLLs to \windows\system32 folder.

Did you mean I need the two .dlls plus C++ Runtime? One of the files was already in System 32 folder. I put the other one there but MSUColorEnhancement.vdf still will not load. If I need the Redistributable Package, can I use the latest version (2008)?

Are you using the latest version (1.0) of the plugin and VE 1.9.4?
Those two files from the archive are all it needs.
If your OS is 64 bit, then place them in \windows\syswow64.
If that doesn't help try placing them in the same folder as the .vdf file.

Yes, I am using the version of the filter that's on your web site (11/15/2006). I assume that's the most recent one. And I am using VE 1.9.4. My system is 32 bit Windows XP. I placed the two .dll files in the same folder as the filter but the filter still will not load. Any other suggestions?

Did you press OK when VE asked "Press OK to remember it and don't load it next time"?
If yes, then it just didn't try again when you added those files.
In this case you need to go to \Documents and Settings\username\AppData\Local\Video Enhancer and delete file bad_plugins.lst. This path is approximate (it's different in Win7), so if you don't find this file try searching it somewhere in your home folder inside Documents and Settings.

No, I did not press "Yes". I just clicked on 'Cancel'. Anyway, I did a search for the file 'bad_plugins.lst' and found nothing. I really have no clue what's going on now. In the past when I've had trouble with this software, I could blame my old computer but I just bought a new quad core computer four months ago, so I can't blame it on that.

Well, I decided to give up trying to use the MSUColorEnhancer filter and decided to try using the following filters: MSUDenoiser, MSUSmartBrightness, and MSUSmartSharpen. After setting the video compression (XVID) (No change for audio), I hit the start button and yet another error message comes up: Error During Processing. E583. Video decoding problem. (Can't connect Video Helper and Grabber1.) No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection. (80040217) What does that mean in plain English? It almost seems that I'm destined not to be able to use this software.

We've just updated Video Enhancer, now it doesn't rely on system colorspace converters and does all conversions itself. Your last problem should now be fixed.
