I love Video enhancer and your Screen capturing codec. L.O.V.E. I have searched everywhere for a lossless codec that gets every little pixel correct and you guys did it. Although I got that notion from just the trial edition. Some day I will buy it. But also some ideas. You have mastered enhancing video I see but the only problem is the filters. I know there are a lot of VD filters but I cannot seem to find one that allows me to crop borders off of my video. I wish to see this in the future. One that is integrated with the system too for max quality. Also I would like a video editor built in. Would create better quality overall and be worth a lot more to buy.  It does not have to be complicated just allow putting in audio and video and stuff and some transitions. Would help me out a lot because YUV12 is not supported by Videopad or any other video editing program except for Vegas and others like it. Yes I do have the correct decoder.  Also it needs some bug fixes. First of all the installer does not correctly install the UI. And comes up with an error saying that he UI cannot initialize. And that some audio's will not work correctly when encoding. so it locks up until I click it a few times. If I dont click it it just sits there. I would like that fixed please. And I do love your enhancing technique but it needs to be improved just a wee bit. When enhancing you still have blocks of color that do not match other blocks of color making the video non HD. I think there should be a way to correct that by blending them. But anyways thanks. You guys are the experts though not me Tongue

Thank you very much!

Can you tell which audio codecs you had problems with?

Also, what is your windows version (XP, Vista etc., 32 or 64 bit)? We know that sometimes the skin engine fails to install and work correctly but it's so rare that we couldn't reproduce this problem yet.

We'll surely be improving our super resolution technology, we've got some ideas yet to be implemented.

As for the codec, version 2.0 has just been released:

I was running Windows Vista x64 bit SP2 Home premium. Not sure about the audio though. I do not currently have the time to test it all. Sometime I will do that though Cheesy And create a very large list.

For cropping out borders look at the plug-in called canvas size. I think its in the list of VD plug-ins. Just use canvas size to crop the borders first then add the SR to the list. Go into your video enhancer folder and delete the skinengine.dll file to (maybe) fix your problem with the GUI, Im no expert but somewhere I remember this issue being discussed and that was the fix. As for the color mismatch I think you might have to post a picture for them to look at or else they won't know what your talking about, tho I think its more of a personal problem, And blending creates junk information the last I knew. Again I'm no expert.

One can easily crop borders in current version of VE without any VD filters:
just add SR in Advanced mode, select scale size to the same as original and output size lower - just the size you want to keep, the rest will be cropped out.

Another idea! I have been wanting to do testing with Video Enhancer for repeated filters and increasing resolution with filters. Meaning Deblock, increase size to 1280x720. Deblock, increase size to 1920x1080. I can do this but one crucial part I am missing is that I cannot repeat the core Video Enhance filter. I wish to be able to do this in future versions so I can enhance my video res by res to get the maximum quality instead of having the Video Enhance special filter to effect only certain parts of the video. Not sure egzactly how that process happens but my Res by Res enhance idea might actually work! Cheesy

What do you mean "cannot repeat the core Video Enhance filter"?
In Advanced mode you can make a sequence of any number of SR and other filters. Just add them one by one and they'll work in a chain.

So is the only core filter Video Enhancer uses is SR?

Yes, SR is built-in (with deblocking in YUV mode), other filters are external VD plugins.

ok. But also there is problem with Unknown Exceptions. my FFV1 encoded AVI files say they will just not convert but if I try to use a MKV file (which is almost egzactly like AVI) it gives me an unknown exception. But sometimes when I use MKV instead of AVI and use the same paramaters it works. Also after I get a Unknown Exception or error I have to close the program with command prompt and that takes a little while to do each time.

VE can only save to AVI which it writes using its own AVI writer.
But for reading AVI and MKV files it uses default readers installed in your system.
If reading MKV gives those exceptions it means either MKV reader or FFV1 decoder (ffdshow) is unstable. You need to update them. I guess the best way is to install fresh K-Lite Codec Pack. But when installing remember whenever there is a choice between ffdshow and other codec (like Xvid) to choose the other codec. So that ffdshow is used only for those formats which cannot be decoded with other codecs.

ah, but another thing. Why is it that on large parts of the same or almost the same color Super Res makes it look blocky? I dont use deblocker because that makes smoke and particles look horrible but shouldnt there be a way to detect nearby colors and blend with those? Or has that already been taken into consideration but on other parts of the video it would make it look horrible? I do like that edges turn smoother and that it is actaully getting 1080P look from a lower res but... I hate blocks. Cheesy

Yes... deffinite blocks are being visible. This might be because of the way the Pixels are handled... I can see small boxes that are not in the original file, its like the video  has a template of small boxes throughout the whole thing.... This sort of destroys it from being HD....

Yes, we've also found this problem with artifacts on smooth areas. We hope to fix this soon.
