When I try to use MP3, PCM, or other audio codec, I can choose how many Hz I want, but when conversion starts it popups a window like the below where I can only choose 8000 Hz quality:

The conversion also freezes in some point.

I'm using K-Lite Codec Pack Full and K-Lite Codec Pack 64bits.

How can I fix it?

When you select and configure an audio codec it's not yet connected to the source file, so it doesn't know real frequency and other parameters of source audio. When you start processing the codec is connected to the source and VE tells it the chosen parameters, however the codec may decide that these parameters are not applicable to this source sound. In this case this window will pop up with selection of formats the codec can use for this particular file. For example, if the source audio is 8 kHz and you selected 44 kHz, then this window may appear.

As for freezing, what version of VE do you use? Versions up to 1.9.3 had a bug caused this freezing sometimes, but it was fixed in 1.9.4. The current version is 1.9.5 and 1.9.6 is coming very soon.

I'm using 1.9.5.

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

The only codecs installed was the K-Lite ones, with preset "Lot of Stuff without Player" for 32bit version and "Default" for 64bit version.

The compression start normally and freezes at some point. Everything works, including play and preview.

Discovered the problem. I didn't want my audio output to be 8000 Hz so I was using "No recompression: Copy stream", that was the problem.

I think it's a bug in VE or a problem in my file. Huh?

That could be a bug in VE when it writes the audio stream. If you can upload a short video file where you meet this problem to rapidshare.com (no need to create an account, just click Upload) we'll be very grateful.

It's a video from a Sony Handycam DVD-203. I recorded a small video for your tests (untouched, directly from the camcorder). It has the same problem.

Grab it below:
