Where to begin…….?
My father recorded the BCS National Championship between Alabama & Texas on his DVD recorder. He asked me to make copies for the family. The video quality is ok but needs improvement so after some research I purchase VE. I read through the manual and forum and then began to experiment with filters & SR. The results are good but not quit right. The original res is ~500x480. The play back on my pc looks taller & thinner than the original and when using SR to double the res, the video is cropped. So:
1.   Will the play back look different once burned to a DVD and played on a big screen TV?
2.   Will uprezzing improve the quality?
3.   How do I us uprezzing without cropping?
4.   What are the best settings?
Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the delay.
We're preparing a tutorial very close to your topic. I hoped to post a link here, but it's not ready yet.

Your original video probably has an aspect ratio with non square pixels, some video formats allow it. VE currently loses this information and makes video with square pixels, so you'll need to adjust resolution (change height in the last SR filter) to restore proper aspect ratio.

VE doesn't crop video unless you tell it to do so. Of course, if you tell it to double resolution and then fit to DVD image size, you'll see only the center part of the picture because other parts will be out of frame.

Without seeing your original video it's impossible to say what settings and filters are the best. Just decide what resolution you want to have in the end (remember that standard DVD video has very certain set of allowed resolutions) and then follow the manual. Also check out tutorials section of this site. It'll be updated soon.

Thanks Dee Mon. I was mistaken about the original resolution. It is 352x480. When I double it, the output looks good. When I double it again, the program seems to lock up about halfway through. When this happens, the program keeps counting elapsed time and estimated time to finish. I will stick to 704x960 for now. I really love you program. I puchased it for this video only but after using it and seeing the great results, I will be using it on all of my video's of my boys in school.
