I've been looking for a good video upscaler and this one seems to be doing ok. I have a bunch of old 480p videos and the results from video converter does seem to make a difference.
However I'm mainly interested in a software/media player program that does this as the movie is playing instead of needing to convert them.

wow... um i know there is a player out there that does sort of thing but only one I can think of right now is ArcSoft total media theater with simHD, from experience I find it does an ok job but don't think it enhances normal container files like mkv, avi, wmv, flv, etc. I think it only enhances on DVD inputs.
If you are really looking for this specific Super Resolution technology, in its current state I think its too cpu intensive but there is a version 2 in the works apparently and it supposedly supports GPU acceleration, with that I think a real time player can be created. but for verification and clarification you should wait for a reply from the developers on the forum.
BTW: A video enhancer media player using SR 2.X would be quite useful, great idea Soul0Reaper.

There is also Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 but its upscaler is quite poor. Its quality is only a little bit better compared to bicubic.
Few months ago i suggested somekind of Firefox/Explorer plugin which could upscale for example Youtube videos to 1080p resolutions.Developers said that it would still be too slow on todays machines. But 2x realtime upscaling is possible.Atleast my computer can do 2x SR upscaling (Highest quality settings) in realtime during preview and actual processing.
I too like the idea of SR media player.Even better,it could be portable and users could choose the quality of upscaling. But now, lets just wait what developers have to say about this idea.

Henery what are the specs to your machine....I'm a computer geek if you know what I mean. I can do ~2x real-time too but only to 1080, if I try 2560x1440 it is something like ~1x realtime.

There is a super resolution out from Motion DSP if I remember correctly and it uses Cuda to accelerate the processing, the quality looks ok but there isn't a comparison I can find that compares it to video enhancer to make any "this one looks better" statements. It was irrelevant to mention it since it isn't a media player sorry.

I will experiment and try to figure out how to make a media player out of the current video enhancer, or similar. (TRY) lol!!!

Here they are:
Intel Core Q6600 2.4 Ghz (not overcloked)
2 Gb 800 Mhz RAM
620 gb HDD
Abit IP35

There is a video resizing methods comparison article in the Articels section. http://www.infognition.com/articles/video_resize_shootout.html  In my opinion,Video Enhancer is superior in terms of resize quality.
I can also do upscaling to 1080p on that speed.Even 4x is possible in realtime, but only from very small resolutions like 176x144.

I have an idea for that "SR mediaplayer".You see, there is Virtualdub plugin version of the SR filter (v.1.9.6) and i was thinking if it would be possible to modify VDub to mediaplayer that can directly use VDub plugins to filter the video. In realtime of course. If you got interested in this idea, you can download VDubs sourcecode from here --> http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

lol wow henery you think like I do, I have been using a resource editor to modify virtualdub as a starting point, the only problem I have is I cant get rid of the original preview. I'll post pictures of what I got soon, the harder part though i think will be to get virtualdub to resize with the "after video preview". and with that thought in mind I gave up lol, but I will still post picture of what I have.
