Hello, I installed ScreenPressor 2.0 and it works fine with CamStudio to record, but when I try to reproduce the created file all players fail... It seems they are not able to recognize the codec used by ScreenPressor.

I'm sure the created file is good, since I can see it with CamStudio player, but while the record software of CamStudio is awesome, the player is really poor and I would like to use another one.

I tryed vlan player, divx player, windows media player and some others but all failed to open the file. I cannot even open it in VirtualDub...

If I cannot get this fixed I think I have to choose a different codec for CamStudio records and I don't like this idea.

It usually works fine in Windows Media Player, as well as Media Player Classic.
Vlan player (and VLC), if I recall correctly, only knows a limited set of built-in codecs and doesn't know how to play custom codecs like ScreenPressor.

This is a 32-bit codec, make sure you're not trying to play it with some 64-bit players.

I use windows 7 64 bit as OS, but on another PC with same OS they video work with windows media player, so I'm a bit confused.

Seems like a problem on your particular machine. Either the codec wasn't installed properly, or some third-party component interferes.

If you want to investigate further you can run GraphEditPlus (download from this site), right click empty space in a graph window, select "Render file", pick a video compressed with ScreenPressor and see what happens. If everything's ok it will create a graph involving file source, avi splitter, screenpressor and a renderer, and you'll be able to play the video. In case of problems it should show some errors...

It seems the program that created problems was divx+, after I disinstalled it I can play the video in windows media player, so my main problem is solved.

I still cannot open it with VideoLan (I think this proble is not possible to solve), with GraphEditPlus (same error described previously) or with VirtualDub.

I will use ScreenPressor as codec from camstudio now, but I'd like to know if you have any suggestion to solve the problem with VirtualDub and/o if you can suggest a good player compatible with the video file format (since I don't love much windows media player).

Have you tried Media Player Classic (MPC)? It often comes as part of many codec packs, like K-Lite Codec Pack.

We never had problems with MPC or VirtualDub regarding ScreenPressor.

Interesting error you got in GraphEditPlus, something's very broken in your system. Try adding manually (from the list on the left) filters File Source Async (when it asks for a file select your avi with screenpressor video), then AVI Splitter, connect them, right click splitter's output pin and select Render.
