Hi,

I think the GrapheditPlus will be a very useful tool when I get it running correctly on my system.

Currently, when I try to reopen a previously saved graph file, this message box comes up with the Error Loading Graph message. The message text reads: "800401F3: Invalid class string (Exception from HRESULT:0x800401F3(CO_E_CLASSSTRING))".

As far as I can gather from the MS knowledgebase, this indicates that something is not registered correctly.  I have uninstalled GraphEditPlus and reinstalled it several times, using "run as administrator." (This is a Vista system.) -- The problem remains unchanged. Although tempted, I am hesitant to simply go into the Registry and manually remove all .grf and Graphedit/GraphEditPlus references, though; I suspect that will simply make matters worse.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Huh?

The problem is not with .grf files registration, GraphEditPlus can open these files whatever extension they have, so messing with registry won't help.

Does it happen with any graph file or just with some of them? Where did you get graph files you're opening?
I suppose there may be some filters not saved correctly in your file.

Thanks for your suggestions.

All the .grf files I am attempting to open were created using GraphEditPlus 1.2.2.

After reading your reply, I tried saving a .grf that was generated "automatically" by opening/rendering an AVI file. -- This saved and reopened without error. Doing the same for a WMV file worked correctly, too.

After this, I tried rendering several other common media file formats using this method.  So far, it appears that AVI and WMV are the only one that GraphEditPlus can save .grf files for and reopen correctly.

Most media files will render and play directly from . This far, I have not attempted to generate graphs using anything but the application & Vista filters/codecs currently installed on this system. -- None of these are filters under development or in debug.

So far, attempts to compile and run generated code from GraphEditPlus renderings that won't save and reopen usually results in runtime errors like "pin not found."  My next (experimental) step will be to see if code generated using an AVI or WMV graph (that can be saved and reopend) will also compile and run correctly. Undecided

I still think there must be some filters not saving/loading correctly.
You can find what filter causes the error. Make a graph which doesn't open normally after saving, then start deleting filters from it, saving and loading (in separate window) on each step.
Unfortunately graph loading operation is atomic now, so if one filter does not load, then whole graph doesn't.
